Overview

The College Library is situated on the second floor with a spacious reading hall. Computers with internet facility are made available to the students and teachers. Library catalogue is made available to the students through intranet. Students are now given direct access to the bookshelves. Handicapped students are given special attention and assistance for selection of books and periodicals. Library service is automated.

Our library has over 41000+ books and a collection of over 66 Periodicals. A number of Ph.D. Thesis, M.Phil. Dissertation, Project Reports submitted by faculty and students are made available for reference. Over 710 CDs / DVDs on various topics / subjects are available to its rich collection.

Resources

The Lala Lajpatrai College established in 1972, this library is one of the oldest libraries among the commerce colleges in Mumbai. The College conducts various courses and Ph.D. centre to cater the needs of the society.

Our College Library resources include a growing collection of 41000+ books; current subscriptions to 66+ periodicals, most leading newspapers and audio-visual resources to support every course offered by the college. The library's collection is growing in all subjects for the courses that are conducted in the College. The e-resources are developed over the years to cater the changing needs of the library users. There is a back volume section for research-oriented study. The Lala Lajpatrai Memorial Lecture Series, College Annual Reports, Question Papers, Syllabus are available in hard copies as well as in digital (.pdf) form.


Automation & Services

The library is automated with SOUL library integrated software developed by INFLIBNET. The library has installed 14 computers. The library has established UGC Network Resource Centre from 2011-2012. The latest ICT facilities provided in this centre. One can access the teaching learning resources, databases, e-books, e-journals etc. from this centre. There are 05 computers in this centre with OPAC facilities for searching and locating books. Apart from this there are 03 computers used by students for their Project work, Dissertation etc. In addition, one computer is facilitated to teachers. One server and 06 computers for library administration. One big screen (monitor) to view news and educational screening. On this screen library also displays new arrivals in library, notices and different services rendered by library.

Students and Faculty can search the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and access the different library services via the computer network in College Campus. Since 1980 the retrospective conversion of the library catalogue has been done. The Bar-coding of books is also done from 1980 to till date. The library has started automated circulation service against bar-coded borrower's card since January 2007.
