Passion to Profession #merisakhi - 21st December 2019



Objectives of the Program

  • To promote business management exercises among the student community.
  • To encourage social initiatives through a wing of social entrepreneurship by organizing stalls for unprivileged people.
  • To enable budding entrepreneurs to sell, price, and market the products; fostering entrepreneurial skills.

This year Entrepreneurship Mela was organized with the sole objective to sensitize the local community comprising of women entrepreneurs on 21st December 2019 that saw the campus of Lala Lajpatrai College flooded with stalls of diverse delicacies and non-food products organized by the Dept. of Add on Vocational Courses & The Rotaract Club jointly with Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Lala Lajpatrai College in collaboration with University of Mumbai. More than 40 stalls were put up by 100+ students of various courses across diverse colleges and start-ups. Even on-campus start-ups participated actively in this innovative business management exercise. This year the theme of Entrepreneurship Mela #merisakhi focused on Women's Entrepreneurship. A footfall of 500-plus visitors was witnessed by the stalls. Colleges like Sheila Raheja College, Thakur College, K.P.B Hinduja College of Commerce & Economics, Valia College, and many more actively participated in the Entrepreneurship Mela. Mrs. Sonali Dhaneshwar, one of the owners of Samvit Sudha, inaugurated & set the Entrepreneurship Mela open. With a zeal & exuberance to work towards community service Team E - Mela had collaborated with various women NGOs and was associated as philanthropy partners namely Women India Trust (WIT), Community Outreach Program (CORP), Samvit Sudha, Fellowship of the Physically Handicapped (FPH), Kshitij, We Are Able Foundation, etc., who not only took the initiative but also actively participated in it by exhibiting their stalls. The event was a phenomenal success which echoed the zeal of enthusiastic & budding entrepreneurs on campus, grooming them & outlining their passion for their profession.

Program Outcomes:

  • Every team explored and put forth their entrepreneurial and selling skills to gain maximum profits.
  • NGOs who collaborated were also given an opportunity to sell their products and made a good sales.
